Re-add ranks and secure logins to WormNET
Ranks and secure logins should be made to work again, but anonymous logins should be preserved.

Ranks and secure logins are part of 4.0’s WormNET design. However, I don’t see strong reasons (and lots of counter-reasons) to keep anonymous logins in 4.0. Also, how the ranks, experience etc. are calculated remains an open and very complicated question.

Rang system is very important. It causes dopamine reactions in player's brain.
When I was playing LOL or Cs:GO, normal games were very boring, but I could play ranked games for hours, days...
Ofc there should be also possibility to play for fun or training.

Sorry i did not see your reply:), my opinion is that at the moment the game is free for all, if the ranks are added the community will become fragmented, but if ranks must be added then at least have a modern indigenous system for it which does not divide the community. -
Ricky: if anything, it'll make it EASIER for new people to find games. In the old times, WormNET had Beginner/Intermediate/Pro channels which would only let people in based on their rank. Newbies could stick around Beginner and find people to play with on their level.

I am strongly against this feature, it will make it tougher for newer players to get good games, and it will make the community weaker..please dont do this:(

Will this also mean that changing your flag using 3rd-party programs won't be possible anymore? Because in current system in the same way users changes their rank, they can change their flag which makes this item pretty naught. Better solution could be determining the user's country by IP (use IP to country database).

In fact what D3v1L says happened in that way at Age of Empires in it's official server. There were 2 communities completely separated, rarely ever getting in touch. Imagine that at WA with 1/10 of the population and consider that there is already a small gap between those who normally play in a private league and those who don't. With a separated rated room that gap could grow bigger.

i am agre with Dario, the principal idea of WA is to have fun and socialize (at least thats why i play it). It could be in other room like u said #Tourneys, but im a little afraid that would separate the little comunity that is still allive in 2 sides

Sorry for any ambiguity, but yea, you nailed what I meant. Nice to see that thread hasn't been forgotten.

Your question is ambiguous... registering will be optional, and unregistered people won't be able to use registered nicknames. If you meant registering someone's nickname just to steal it before that person, that's what this thread on the Team17 forums is for: http://forum.team17.com/showthread.php?t=3617

Should these be two things to vote for? Discussion so far is only be about ranks, but the votes cover both ideas. Ranks without secure logins may not make sense, but secure logins don't necessarily need ranks. In any case, if secure logins do happen, what's to stop someone from stealing names?

AG will most definitely remain unranked. Perhaps #RH and #PT will be merged to a #Tourneys, as that's what they're used for the most currently.

I completely agree with you about trying not to "scare" some people away with rankings. But maybe this could be avoided by keeping #AG unranked. That's where most people hang out now, and when they want to play for ranks or league games, they could just go to another channel for that, like they do now for tournaments.

I am not convinced about "official" rankings coming back. I believe the private leagues being hosted are doing a good job by offering a large variety of options when it comes to competing, while wormnet itself remains unranked, giving more space to friendly games and socializing (thing that I think is crucial to prevent our small community from fading away).
