Allow resuming an on-line match using the replay file
Network disconnects or real-life reasons shouldn't mean that the match can't be completed. There should be a way to resume a game with the same players using the replay file.

Ok, your all probably going to gang up on now me.. criticism..
Are single games really that unique?.. I think I would rather start a fresh game.
What if someone was loosing, thus they dont want to rejoin?
Whats the probability of all the original players being on wormnet after the game gets messed up?.. Even then, they might not want to continue the game. -

Ye, its a nice idea even

The WKB includes a possible implementation of this for you to improve/discuss:

Agree, this feature can be really important, more then just convinient. So would be better if you managed to do it less complicated but still possible to use.

If it gets too complicated, being able to resume an on-line game only with the original players is more than good enough, without the other features. In order to do that some kind of file could be created in each player's PC as soon as the game starts. Then only when they are all together the game could be restored.
-
This is becoming very complicated for a convenience feature.

So, next time when participants of a match come together and "load game", all the players should be asked automatically for a key. And about nicknames: if someone has changed his nickname? I think there should be the same nicknames too, right?

Securing the game must be an option or we won't be able to watch the replay of any game was interrupted somehow. So there must be a menu option before the game starts, something like "important game" or "covered game". But look, if one of players lost connection, how will he get a randomly generated key? So again, since "covered game" option was picked players must be asked of a secret code.

Indeed, you could disconnect on purpose and test things before coming back on-line, even ask someone else what to do. What about an option that allows to "lock" a saved game so that only when all the "keys"(each player in the game would get a different digital one) are together the game can be resumed?. So that you could keep the "take over teams" feature and still have "secure" games when needed.

Play-By-Mail concept sounds interesting.

This needs very careful thought to prevent abuse.

If there's difficulty in getting everyone back online, an option to play a turn offline, and send the replay to a server, for the next turn to be played.
This would allow a player to make many attempts before selecting the best turn to send. That could be a good thing, allowing 'postal' play.
Also, maybe permit players who didn't start the game to take over teams, to make things easier.

A "save game" feature would be even nicer, with automatic saving each time a turn ends (otherwise if you make a hard try and screw it up and you disconnect on purpose before another turn starts you could "erase" your miss). Also any player should be able to take control of the chosen team/s when loading a saved game.
